
When life sciences ventures are newly established, there is usually emphasis on the exciting new technologies which underpin the venture. However there is a need for investment to achieve commercial returns from these technologies. With the current worldwide shortage of capital, an ambitious, technology-focused company needs to ensure its overall structure and strategy maximises its readiness for investment. Investment readiness includes such issues as: the credentials of the executive team and Board; company structure and the market opportunity; the time, route and strategy to market, including regulatory strategy; partnerships and alliances; intellectual property; and the competitive advantage represented by the venture must all be considered. This presentation will discuss the various aspects of the structure and strategy of an early stage company which make it attractive to outside investment.
