Dr. Tim Hunt is an English biochemist and a Principal Scientist at Cancer Research UK Clare Hall Laboratories, in South Mimms, Hertfordshire. In 2001, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with Leland Hartwell and Sir Paul Nurse for their discoveries regarding cell cycle regulation by cyclin and cyclin-dependent kinases. He also won the Abraham White Scientific Achievement Award of the George Washington University in 1993. In 2006, he was knighted by the Queen. He currently serves as chairman of the council of EMBO, ‘The European Molecular Biology Organization. |

Dr. Jeong-Sun Seo is a professor of Biochemistry at Seoul National University, College of Medicine, and the director of Ilchun Genomic Medicine Institute (GMI-SNU). GMI-SNU is exclusively dedicated to Asian genome analysis to bring forth the era of personal medicine through accomplishing whole genome analysis of Asian population. Dr. Seo is a pioneer in Asian genome study; his group recently published his work on Korean whole genome analysis, being 4th group in the world to publish whole genome study in Nature utilizing NGS technology. His group also completed the whole genome analysis of a Korean female which will be the first Asian female whole genome sequence published to date. Dr. Seo was the president of the Korea Genome Organization, and is now the president of the unified Korean Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He is also the founder of Macrogen, a leading Korean bio-venture company listed in KOSDAQ as the first bio-venture company in Korea. He is also the first president of the Korea BIO Association. |
